Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must exhibit Christian maturity and accept the authority of scripture, the UMC Book of Discipline, UMC General conference, and the UMC Kentucky Annual Conference.
- Must possess professional manners, communicate articulately and work well in a team setting with church staff, other church musicians, the congregation and volunteers.
- To grow and retain participants in the Music Ministry and fulfill the Great Commission of St John UMC.
- Must be able to spend 10-12 hours a week towards the church’s Music Ministry including but not limited to, plan, practice and conduct choir, bell choir and special Christmas and Easter Music. To serve as ad hoc member of St. John UMC Worship Committee and meet with Pastor and staff regularly to plan weekly and special Music Ministry. Must be able to keep ministerial confidentiality.
- Ability to manage budgets and exercise fiscal responsibility.
Music Ministry Requirements:
- Must be able to site read and direct music and possess musical skills in a religious setting and to lead musically dynamic, spirit-filled worship.
- Preferred abilities to play multiple instruments, possess vocal coaching skills, knowledge of stage presentation and worship flow, and the ability to arrange music using notation software. Should possess knowledge in state-of-the-art technology for enhancing Music Ministry.
- Preferred degree in Music Ministry and/or 1 year of religious music or musical direction experience and/or have attended Bible School.
- Have attended or have the willingness to attend the Safe Sanctuary program of the UMC Kentucky Annual Conference.
